Short-Term Caregivers: The Help You Need While You Recover

Gentle Spirits Homecare provides a flexible range of caregiving services, including short-term caregivers for adults of all ages. Our non-medical support provides essential assistance for the first few weeks or months home after injury, illness, or surgery.

Why hire a caregiver short-term?

You may be well enough to return home from the hospital or rehabilitation center, but you may not have the energy or mobility to take care of yourself. Hiring a caregiver a few hours a day or all day long can optimize health, safety, and comfort.

Our services include any combination of:

·         Assistance bathing and toileting

·         Assistance grooming and dressing

·         Changing the sheets

·         Grocery shopping and errands

·         Laundry

·         Light housekeeping

·         Meal prep

·         Medication reminders

·         Rides to physical therapy

·         Rides to doctor’s appointments

·         Socialization

·         Wake-up/tuck-in services

·         Feeding the dog and cat

·         Walking the dog

·         Scooping the litter box

What types of shifts are available?

·         Wake-up/tuck-in: An hour or more each morning and/or evening to transfer in and out of bed, bathe, change pajamas or clothing, and change the sheets.

·         Hourly services: Short-term caregivers can work during the day while loved ones are at work. Maybe midday to prepare lunch, provide a medication reminder, and socialize.

·         Extended shifts: Overnight and 24/7 care is ideal for those who live alone or whose family or partner needs support with care duties.

·         Transportation: We can staff a caregiver to drive and accompany you or your loved one to doctor’s appointments, physical therapy, and outings while they’re recovering.

Can caregivers be scheduled in hospitals and rehabilitation centers?

Yes. If it doesn’t violate their policy, we can schedule short-term caregivers in inpatient care centers. This includes hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and hospice centers. The care center provides all medical care, but we can provide companionship and keep family in the loop while at work.

Do you provide respite care?

Yes. We can staff short-term homecare services to provide family caregivers with respite. This can include a day or two off, full vacation, or as-needed shifts.
